Kanya Rashi Symbol in Indian Astrology
Kanya means a young girl or maiden in Sanskrit and Hindi, the same idea as Virgo in Latin. Indian texts often describe Kanya as a young woman in a boat, holding grain in one hand and a lamp in the other. Western art shows a maiden holding an ear of wheat.

Spica, Chitra and the Grain Maiden
